Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza are dunzo with their tennis doubles partnership. The partnership started in 2015 at the Indian Wells tournament and their story is a fairy tale one could easily find in online sportsbooks. With 14 titles and three time runner ups they will end their famous partnerships.
The titles list is long but they include all the Grand Slam titles and the Year End Championships.
Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza release joint statement
People speculated for days as to why the partnership ended but it wasn’t until Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza took to Facebook and released a joint statement about the break up:
After three Grand Slam victories and eleven WTA doubles titles together, we have mutually agreed that we would each be open to playing with other players for the remainder of the season. Perhaps, because of our great past results, we have had very high expectations from our partnership and unfortunately did not get the results we desired recently. We would like to clarify that it was a totally professional decision based purely on our recent results.
The professional decision has not and will not in any way affect the wonderful personal relationship that we continue to share. We also look forward to defending our title in the year-end WTA Finals in Singapore in October for which Santina has already qualified. We hope that this puts to rest some of the fabricated stories that have been doing the rounds in some sections of the media.

What the future holds
Now, we are really really curious what the future holds for the both of them and if they are able to match their succesful results with other partners. I have my doubts because in my view, they are like the Lennon / McCartney for Womens Doubles but we can only speculate I suppose at this point.
