It’s been a while since I last wrote on the world of tennis. Real life has kept me busier than I thought it would. At any rate, what do you guys think of Victoria Azarenka’s new number 1 position? And what about her unbeaten run so far? It’s been great and everything a Azarenka fan could want. And what did happen to Caroline Wozniacki? She lost to the great Ana Ivanovic at Indian Wells. I hope it means that Ivanovic will break back into the top 10 of tennis. It’s been far too long since we saw her.
At any rate do you think that Caroline Wozniacki losing to Ana Ivanovic or not reaching finals of big tournaments is due to fatigue? If so then I would suggest that she gets some protein bars. Personally, I think that Ana Ivanovic new coach, Nigel Sears, and her going back with boyfriend Adam Scott has elevated Ivanovic’ spirit in such a way that she is actually winning again. And it’s great because for a second I feared that she would throw it all away.
Victoria Azarenka was accused by Agnieszka Radwanska of faking injuries and that she was a bad example for women tennis, after the beautiful Belrussian beat Radwanska at Indian Wells Azarenka replied with a hint of sarcasm: “I hope I was a good example of women’s tennis.”
But a sarcastic remark is one thing, if she is faking injuries then she is indeed a bad example. Though I do have trouble believing that. Wait a second….ok here we go, I put off my Azarenka glasses and put on my objective writing glasses. Azarenka is very prone to injuries and that makes it hard to see if she is faking it or not.
Q. Sorry to take you back over old ground, but I wasn’t in Doha last week. You did seem a bit annoyed at the end of last week’s semifinal. Is this a good chance to atone for that?
AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Well, to be honest, I don’t think this is worth it to comment. But, um, I think after this match just lost a lot of respect. That’s it.
If you do this in the match — if anyone didn’t see the match, I think it’s just quick look on YouTube and you’ll know what was going on.
Q. Yeah. I wasn’t asking for you to criticize the other player.
AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Yeah, I was angry because I don’t think this is the great image for the women’s tennis, what was going on there. So, yeah, unfortunately.
So it’s brewing in women’s tennis eh? To be continued for sure…
